Flushing Cottages
On the banks of the Penryn, a tributary of Carrick Roads, the
sleepy village of Flushing promises relaxing escapes amid pretty
coastal surroundings. Our Flushing holiday cottages are scattered
about the village, renowned to be one of the UK's warmest spots
and so perfect for winter breaks when the rest of us are wrapped up
in thermals!
Expect lazy days on the beach, rarely crowded even in the height
of season and dog friendly year round - so Flushing holiday rentals
are ideal for 'Scamp'. Walk around the headland to Mylor
Yacht Harbour, jam-packed with swish yachts, or head further along
the coast to a little beach called Jericho, often reached by rowing
boat by those in the know.
Back in the village are two churches, two pubs, a waterside
bistro, well-stocked shop and monthly produce market. And for kids
- an adventure play area with pirate ship.
Top-class events in Flushing
In late July/early August, crowds gather for the Flushing
Regatta Week when all kinds of contests take place - rowing,
swimming, sailing, bathtub and snail races, sandcastle building,
crab catching, plus a gala-style carnival procession through the
village. (Top tip - book your Flushing holiday let early.)
Otherwise come in May/June for Flushing Arts Week when residents
showcase local art, crafts and photography.
For sightseeing, hop on the ferry to Falmouth and onwards to St. Mawes, Trelissick and Truro. Or hire a water taxi for a
private tour of the bay.
Round off the day enjoying a recital by the Nankersey Male
Choir, supping a pint of Cornish ale at the pub or relaxing in the
comfort of your Flushing holiday home.
