Portreath Cottages
Escape to a
Portreath cottage on Cornwall's
rugged north coast. A small fishing village that became a port,
today's Portreath is a wonderful seaside retreat, unspoilt by
mass tourism. You'll find everything you need like shops,
traditional inns, cafés and licensed restaurants, but think
small and exclusive rather than big and brash.
Learn something new in a Portreath cottage!
Take the plunge and try an exciting water-based activity such as
surfing, windsailing, bodyboarding, sea kayaking or coasteering.
You can hire all the equipment locally and make fast progress.
Back on land, enjoy walking, cycling, riding and more.
There's a lovely circular walk in Illogan Woods just next to
Portreath. Also Tehidy Country Park offering bridleways, mountain
bike trails, lakes filled with wildlife, nature trails and an
adjoining golf course.
Or stride out from your Portreath cottage along the South West
Coastal Path, winding its way along the flower-clad cliff-tops and
affording mindboggling vistas at every step. North Cliffs are a
prime example, with views of Godrevy Lighthouse and St. Ives in the
distance. Expect to see a wide variety of wildlife like buzzards,
kittiwakes and sometimes seals.
Otherwise opt for relaxing days on the gorgeous sandy beach,
cleaned daily to keep everything shipshape. A small stream runs
down to the sea at the side and it's very popular with families
- think flip-flops, sandcastles, bat and ball. At low tide, rock
pools emerge as does a natural tidal pool - great for children to
splash about and swim.
For a magical mix of coast and countryside, our
Portreath cottages are amongst the best!
