Just show me Kirbymoorside Cottages
Experience the magical landscapes of the North York Moors National Park with a stay in one of our Kirkbymoorside holiday cottages.
Exuding a village-like atmosphere, this charming market town (meaning church-by-the-moorside) is a popular choice with visitors and offers a very warm welcome whatever the time of year.
It features a lovely cobble-lined main street flanked with Georgian townhouses and stone cottages, a good choice of pubs and restaurants, as well as shops to accommodate your holiday needs. There's also a weekly market every Wednesday. Interested in history? Look out for All Saints' Church, with its Saxon and Norman roots, and the timbered Black Swan Inn dating from 1632. Over the years two castles have stood in town and a walk to the top of Vivers Hill - one of the original castle sites - offers glorious views over town and the Vale of Pickering.
Attractions close by include the magnificent Rievaulx Abbey at Helmsley and the Ryedale Folk Museum at Hutton-le-Hole. A little further afield but still an easy day-trip are Castle Howard and the seaside resort of Scarborough.
The breathtaking National Park is just a mile from Kirkbymoorside and an absolute delight to explore whether your preferred method is walking, cycling, riding, golfing or driving. The wild, sweeping expanses of heather-clad moorland will take your breath away and whichever way you go, you'll come across picturesque villages steeped in tradition.
And don't forget to check local listings for performances by the town's award-winning brass band - the icing on the cake of any Kirkbymoorside cottage holiday!
